The Low Cost of Streaming - Where it Pays to Advertise Your Business

More and more businesses are seeing the benefit of advertising their business through non-traditional sources. It’s no wonder why. At the start of 2021, there were less than 78 million U.S. households with cable subscriptions. At the same time, televised marketing campaigns reached more than 84 million households through streaming channels. That is the first time marketers have seen this, and the trend isn’t expected to change any time soon. In fact, the expectation is that more households will ditch cable by the end of 2021.

The Upswing of Streaming TV

Marketers are seeing this dynamic shift and reallocating budgets toward advertising on streaming services at remarkable rates. For example, from January to September 2020, revenues connected to ads plummeted 14% across all media. However, with streaming services, there was a 17% increase.

This upswing brings with it confidence in the effectiveness of advertising through non-traditional TV. Not all businesses are on board with streaming. While some are slow to allocate their budgets, 89% feel that advertising through streaming TV is just as effective as linear TV, if not better. The same marketers also feel this is a great way to build their brand. Forty-three percent (43%) feel that streaming TV is the best way for a brand to tell its story, compared to only 26% for linear TV. Thus, less of their money is allocated toward linear TV.

Marketers also accredit streaming TV with the opportunity of advertising in a different light than linear TV. There’s the opportunity for shorter ads, which means you spend less. You also have the ability to adjust in the middle of a plan, which is nearly impossible for linear TV. That in itself inspires new ad creativity and makes your budget go further.

The Importance of Marketing

At the end of each quarter comes the question that most businesses have to ask, “What are we getting from our marketing dollars?” That is a fair question since marketing takes up a fair amount of the budget.

For some larger companies, 20% to 50% of the budget can be allocated towards marketing. The spending is vital and well justified because, without marketing, a business may not get much promotion or exposure. And that means very little revenue. It’s safe to say that the bigger the revenue, the more the marketing budget, since marketing drives sales. Marketing is responsible for increasing revenue by 38% in some companies.

This is why marketing is so important:
⦁    Marketing is effective in engaging customers. You want to ensure your customers can engage with you just as you can push information in front of them. Marketing allows you and your customers an opportunity to conversate. It’s a way for you to provide fresh content and tell your story. Your customers want to hear from you; marketing keeps you connected.
⦁    Marketing builds your brand’s reputation. Marketing allows you to establish your brand, get it out there to the public and provide them with the details they need to know. If they don’t know you, they’ll never trust you. Marketing helps to gain trust. The reputation you build through marketing will say a lot about you and your brand. That is exactly what streaming TV does so well.
⦁    Marketing builds relationships. With that trust, customers expect you to know what they need and want. Marketing can help establish that through surveys and other avenues. In the end, it’s about producing the product or service that your customer needs to have. They depend on you for that, and you depend on them to be loyal to your brand.
⦁    Marketing provides insights into your business. Through marketing, you get to know your target audience. You also learn the best way to keep them informed and the content to put out there. That keeps you from having to guess about what works for your customers.
⦁    Marketing keeps your business relevant. Never assume people know who you are or what you’re selling. Even if they once knew, it only takes the next great thing to make you a thing of the past. You always want to be at the forefront of your customers’ minds. Nothing does this better than streaming TV.
⦁    Marketing keeps consumers informed. Marketing lets your customers know what’s happening with your brand. They know what you’re selling and how to access it. They also learn more about you, how you got started, and it builds your brand awareness. Nothing can do this better than advertising on streaming TV.

It’s Time to Rethink How You Advertise

People are changing how they view TV as they slowly move away from linear TV. Almost 79% of people who either stopped paying for cable or never had it, to begin with, say it is unlikely they will subscribe again.

That is a big deal for marketers, as this means more households are making the permanent shift to streaming TV, which means it’s time for you to rethink how to engage your existing and new customers. For many people, streaming TV was an add-on to their cable programming, but recently, many seemed to have switched completely in the process.

That is why streaming matters and ZondraTV Network was designed specifically for small business entrepreneurs and solopreneurs. Our team is passionate about providing an affordable platform for small businesses to scale and grow their business locally, nationally, and globally. We realize that small business owners have limited advertising budgets, which limits their ability to go after their big dreams.
